Avon Grove Wins the District 28 8u Softball Championship !!

Starting on Saturday, June 9^th, eight teams of 7 & 8 year old girls from District 28 played in a 10-day tournament hosted by Avon Grove Area Little League (AGALL). Each game grew more and more competitive as the tournament went on, with many games requiring extra innings to declare a winner. It was exciting to watch the girls, coaches, and families as they rooted for their home teams night after night. With additional support from AGALL VPs of Softball, Christy Overton & Pat Kelly, who claim, “It takes a village to pull off these tournaments and we have an amazing one!", Avon Grove was able to successfully host Coatesville, West Side, West Bradford, Lionville, Downingtown, KAU, and Caln. We are incredibly proud of our D28 athletes and coaches, their sportsmanship, and their overall pride for their local Little Leagues.

In the end, Avon Grove's team pulled off their second consecutive District 28 Championship title after a fierce battle against a very strong Downingtown team. The game ended in a 5-3 victory for AG after 6 innings of play. Avon Grove's 8U All Star Team was Managed by Dan Sullivan, Assisted by Coaches Russell Dunlap and Marc Schlank, with additional assistance from Coaches Jaimie Crilley and Steve Krech. AG's strong pitching, combined with impressive defensive plays were keys to their win. Offensively, it was a battle of the bats as both teams had strong hits throughout the game.
